An all natural wood Ponderosa Commercial Playground at the scenic Potomac Overlook Regional Park in Virginia.
In the photos at left, note the graded safety surfacing, which goes from the level required for the playground, down to absolute ground level, for easy access to the playground area.
This installation is in Potomac Overlook Regional Park, which, though only 67 acres, boasts a respectable 2.5 miles of natural surface hiking trails. Shenandoah it is not, but for many, 2.5 miles provides a satisfying trekking experience – especially considering the terrain. Sitting high on a bluff overlooking the Potomac River, Potomac Overlook Regional Park has an abundance of steep (but brief) hills.
It is not surprising to find a Bears Playground in such a natural wilderness setting. Bears Playgrounds are designed to compliment any environment.
