In 2017, Bears Playgrounds partnered with IDEA Public Schools to develop new playground areas for many of their locations all across the state of Texas. To date, we have put in playgrounds at 6 of their schools, with hopes of doing more in the months to come.
Since 2001, IDEA Public Schools has grown from a small school with 150 students to the fastest-growing network of tuition-free, Pre-K-12 public charter schools in the United States. IDEA Public Schools believes that each and every child can go to college.
IDEA was recently named America’s Best Charter School Network and boasts national rankings on The Washington Post and U.S. News & World Report’s top high schools lists. IDEA serves more than 35,000 college-bound students in 61 schools across three Texas regions and is on-track to maintain its legacy of sending 100% of its graduates to college.
We designed a customized Dreamin’ Big Playground along with independent play features, including a faux tree crawl tunnel and spider web climber. In doing so, we’ve created a “hybrid” or balance between the innocent, natural adventure of playing in the forest and the structure required in todays children’s spaces. We have been building natural playgrounds since long before it was trendy. And we have always understood that natural, renewable materials are far greener than powder coated steel and plastics.
Not all equipment may be appropriate for all children, even when designed for a target age group. To avoid injury you should closely supervise and participate in the child’s use of this equipment, especially while learning to use it. Proper supervision is required.
