Our Hundred Acre Wood all Natural Playground built in the Badlands of South Dakota. The Lakota Native American tribe gave this area its name, "mako sica," meaning "land bad." Located in southwestern South Dakota, the Badlands consists of acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles and spires blended with the largest protected mixed grass prairie in the United States. It is desolation at its truest, where you can look for miles and see no sign of civilization. Because of this unique landscape, however, lots of travelers flock to see the sights, and lots of children enjoy the Bears Playground that pops up like an oasis against the bright blue skies; as you can see in the photos at left. With our playgrounds, we have created a "hybrid" or balance between the innocent, natural adventure of playing in the forest and the structure and safety required by today’s standards for children’s spaces. We have been building natural playgrounds since long before it was trendy. And we have always understood that natural, renewable materials are far greener than powder coated steel and plastics. Our expertise in creating children’s outdoor spaces, and experience in log construction, is what makes Bears the perfect choice for transforming your existing space or creating a new space into a unique Bears Natural Playground. Not all equipment may be appropriate for all children, even when designed for a target age group. To avoid injury you should closely supervise and participate in the child’s use of this equipment, especially while learning to use it. Proper supervision is required.
